After weeks and months conditioned to remain inside the house, how will you teach your little ones to introduce themselves in person? Especially when they’re just entering the school year?

From the Parents Editors of Parents com, we can learn about fun ways of teaching our children to chin up and introduce themselves. Here are some helpful tips that we found.

Role-Playing

Jennifer L. Scoutt, author of a book of teaching mannerism know-how, is suggesting that role playing can be a good method for encouraging children to do anything, including introducing themselves.

In her book Connoisseur Kids: Etiquette, Manners, and Living Well for Parents and Their Little Ones, parents don’t need to teach children how to shake hands. Instead, the gesture can be replaced by a simple smile and a wave. Parents also don’t need to instruct their children. Parents just need to give them examples, then they will follow suit. “It is a great post-pandemic substitute.” Said Jennifer.

Use Jokes and Goofy Ways

“The more fun you can make it, the more at ease your kid will be when it comes to real life.” Said Ann Joseph-Douglas, director of education at Children's Theater Company, in Minneapolis. Ann suggests you can use toys like stuffed animals to get your kids involved in this introduction practice. Similar to the role-playing method, it is essentially involving kids’ natural curiosity.

Classic Games Always Work.

“Repeating people's names can help your kid remember them. Before starting a match of "Rock, paper, scissors," or any game, have your kid use your name to ask you to join in. Urge your child to try this when they're at school, too, to keep track of new friends.” Said Kaylie Scott, a dual-language immersion teacher in Alpharetta, Georgia.
